Norman Mailer sketch

I'm starting in on a portrait of the writer Norman Mailer for a review of his new book "The Castle in the Forest" It's about how Hitler became Hitler.

It was about 8 degrees outside today, and about 40 in the studio. I felt how this guys looks.

Not too warm in my studio either . . . just put some plastic over the window's much warmer now. Great caricature, I recogonized who it was, I just recently saw the guy's picture in a magazine . . . it's funny how caricature artists sometimes think the same things . . . I'm not very familiar with this guy, but as soon as I saw him I wanted to draw him as well.

Hey Jason
Mailer is/was one of the great writers of the 20th century. I remember having to read "The Naked and the Dead" in high school, and it was one of the first books that really knocked my socks off. To be honest, I think I've attempted a couple more of his books after that and just lost interest.
He does have a great face though. Let me see what you do with him if you draw him.

Stay warm!
